Dreaming in Coffee Dream

Belgradians like to drink coffee. It is ordinary and very hip scene on streets in recent times - guys or girls with cup of coffee in one hand, and cell or bag in other, notebook or daily newspapers. Walking. Smiling. Thinking. Laughing. In a hurry.
So, Coffee Dream is (after Greenet), first authentic branded cafeterias in Belgrade. First opened, and in my opinion maybe still with best atmosphere is Coffee Dream in Kralja Petra street just at the corner with main pedestrian Knez Mihailova street. For very lond time I used to create daily routine, take relax after a walk, shopping trip or a hard day at work or faculty and enjoy dreaming in pleasant atmosphere. Aside having coffee-to-go, prefer to go down and find just my place in vaulted winery_cellar_like space and for some time escape from reality.
Look at what Karim Rashid, famous designer, said after visiting Belgrade about social life in some of the most popular cafeteria at the moment. Read also about coffee Dream in Mekenzijeva street in macedonian language in article
About de souffle.

In late 2005 Milos Mirosavic was commissioned to create a new brand for café chain in Belgrade and do interior design of the first one that would promote intended values and identity. The task was to transform 100 m2 two-level retail space in the pedestrian zone of the city into a space that would fit all age and social groups. The street level has been elongated with the use of floor-to-ceiling mirrors and the atmosphere in the lower vaulted space is defined by light.

The second café is set on the first floor of an open shopping mall from the late 80s, which is one of rare steel structures in Belgrade. The aim of design was to liberate space as much as possible and enable uninterrupted views through three fully glazed sides.

The third coffeedream acquired space in 1937-building that was originally designed for kafana (traditional bar, restaurant) and after many different uses, during the past 70 years, has been transformed once again into a place of gathering. Identity of the brand in this project has been slightly modified to correspond to the neighboring park along with terrazzo floor that has been used as a link to the missing part of a building's history.

"Boathouse" competition

At Sunday, 6th july, during Architecture week in Belgrade was announced competition results for "Boathouse" design proposal. Architectural contest with commercial Float structure as theme was very important for future identity of Belgrade river banks, Sava and Danube. Competition was open for architects and student under 35 years and create opportunity for young generation to express attitude about perennial tradition of building wild houses on water and give new development model, functional distribution and visual identity. Among 32 works, jury award first, second and third place and two approvals as addition.

First place won Studio Poligon. They propose float house as open platform for personal and site and programmatic specific articulation as well as aesthetic interpretation. They offer few parameters and territorial distribution in programmatic sense, but leave enough flexible space as superposition of typical river puller boat. Boat rack use as spatial framework and manipulative basis which could change during time and according to purpose. Boat house could be restaurant, ice pool, city daily beach, coffee, exhibition space etc. and has absolutely transparent enclosure just to offer shelter from weather conditions. Visual identity doesn't depend on place where is settled or city as physical background, already speak language of
mimicry.

Mix of Scandinavian spirit and Serbian talent

In a manner of speaking about Telenor as Scandinavian telecommunication company and Serbia with great designers and potentials, I should not get away from story about new Expo and Intro center in Belgrade. Parallel to managing marketing strategy, Telenor company building own visual identity. Telenor is synonym for innovation in telecommunication so, new spaces are designed in spirit of fresh, open, flexible and mutifunctional working atmosphere with lot of bright colors, unique furniture equipment, theatrical corners and unexpected ambients. Some of them I like tremendously.
Four main principles are integrated in interior design: "make it easy", "be respectful", "here to help", "keep promisses". Action and business concept are transparent and it could be noticed in open plan concept with just slightly separated zones and silent rooms for ad hoc meetings. Users and workers are at the same level . There is no visible hierarchy and all can use lovely Moroso furniture during pauses and visits. I really love these democratic, creative, and colorful spaces with green and violet as dominant vibrant accents. Adorable playground for new ideas and business solutions.
Bravo for cooperations.

Telenor performance

As I mentioned in previous post, Telenor organized last night official opening for new showroom in the center of Belgrade. You know, every great design need great presentation. So, we were witnesses of breath taking performance in Knez Mihailova street. Woman acrobat in electric blue costume dancing like unreal fairy using white folding curtain linked with white big balloon impending above our heads. It was amazing. Here are some photos.

New Telenor showroom in Belgrade

Today at 19h pm new Telenor showroom in Knez Mihailova street in Belgrade (main pedestrian street) will be opened. It has extraordinary interior design that I really, really fall in love at first sight. One day after work I was walking peacefully along Knez Mihailova, and as I walked by amazing showroom window with dramatically glossy black curvilinear Kerrock stripe that twine the showroom, I need to stop. And I walked in to look around with my always_with_myself_digital_camera and take few photos. I was thrilled by such a great design and dynamic structure that in one moment become desk with exposed models of cell phones in next transform to curvilinear floor stripe and at the end shape into cozy urban bench with transparent green plastic_like (Technogel) cushions. New Telenor showroom like fancy spaceship landed in Belgrade as successfully example of imaginative joint between hight technology and visionary design with explicit message to customers: Come in and have fun exploring our products and services and stay up_to_date with us. Authors of visual design are Studio Remiks (Maja, Mihajlo, Marko) with Maja Vidakovic as representative.
